A Red-winged blackbird flying upwards, towards truth through a downward flying flock of cardinals, a reminder that following the masses does not necessarily bring us closer to truth. We each must think critically, and question what we’ve been taught, and how we see our society behaving. Each of us must find our own truth. Let’s look within ourselves with sharp but loving honesty and look outside of ourselves with compassion and a discerning mind. Individual thinkers have been persecuted throughout human history, especially if they sought to empower, marginalized groups, or challenge doctrines supporting those in power. It takes a fearless soul to go against societal norms in search of truth, good, and enlightenment. It takes an evolved society to tolerate and adopt new outlooks, and break away from the fear of what is unfamiliar.
