Beeautiful Connectedness

This painting depicts a bumble bee puzzled together with flowers from which it derives nectar and that it pollinates. It is an attempt to show interconnectedness in nature and a reminder that things in nature have value that is independent and greater than any value that humankind places on them. They are innately valuable in their own right. Species also perform services that benefit humans. Without pollination, our agricultural system would collapse. The bumblebee’s thorax is depicted with blackberries to represent the connection between the bee’s activities and our food.
