Monarch butterflies with orange butterfly weed, a species of milkweed. Monarch caterpillars eat only milkweed. Milkweed also hosts their eggs and larva. The Monarch Butterflies cannot survive without milkweed. which is rapidly disappearing due to land development. Let’s give the monarch butterfly a chance and plant some of the many beautiful varieties of milkweed in our yards and in our public spaces.
